3D Geological Modelling

Mineralised units are three-dimensional features, which need to be understood in 3D space. Using state-of-the-art software (GoCAD, Geomodeller and Leapfrog), SRK’s team can construct valid 3D geological models to help you understand the geometry of your mineralisation.

3D models improve your geological understanding and help you direct your drilling expenditure towards the best target areas. The models are dynamic and evolve throughout the life of your project, eventually defining domains that inform well-constrained resource estimations.

In mining, 3D geological and structural models improve mine design, hydrology and geotechnical studies.

Since 2001, SRK has helped develop Leapfrog software with Applied Research Associates of New Zealand (ARANZ), which now forms an essential exploration and modelling tool widely used in the mining industry.

Our experience allows us to quickly build realistic 3D models, in regional areas with limited mapping or wide-spaced drilling, and in advanced projects and mines where complex geology and structural features can be modelled in hours or days, instead of weeks or months.
