Women in STEM: METS Career Pathway Program

SRK in partnership with the Austmine Women in STEM: METS Career Pathway Program is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join our organisation for a 10 week internship. Launched in 2017, Austmine’s initiative aims to raise awareness of STEM career opportunities for women by providing hands-on industry experience and insight in to the opportunities available within the dynamic METS sector.
SRK is proud to participate in the program, alongside other industry leaders in the METS sector. Two positions are available in our Perth office as part of the 10 week, paid program that will run between November 2018 and February 2019. Successful applicants will also have access to online training webinars, a social media community and an 1-year associate Austmine membership.

Position 1:
Discipline: Civil or Geotechnical Engineering

See how your can apply your classroom learnings and assist graduate and senior Engineers on a variety of tailings and mine waste projects. Typical tasks may include, but are not limited to, technical support with engineering analyses such as stability, seepage, and water balance modelling or providing input to technical deliverables such as proposals and reports. Be part of the Perth-based team which provides excellent opportunities for mentoring, in addition to challenging projects and the opportunity to learn design input to best practice standards.

Position 2:
Discipline: Geology or Geochemistry

Assist the Geochemistry team on a variety of projects interpreting chemical data for waste rock and tailings. This work typically has a focus on chemical properties related to acid and metalliferous drainage (AMD) and provides inputs to studies at various stages of mining project development from permitting through to closure. This internship will provide you with a friendly learning and work environment with the opportunity to build on your skills and experience.
