SRK boosts capabilities with new structural geology expert Matthew Painter

PERTH, AUSTRALIA — 23 May, 2016 — SRK Consulting (Australasia) is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Painter as a principal consultant to its Perth office. Matthew is a structural geologist with over 20 years of international industry and consulting experience across various commodities, particularly gold and base metals.  He is an expert in developing an understanding of the structure and geometry of ore deposits at both mine and regional scales and in applying that understanding to target further mineralisation.

“Matthew’s interest in the fractal nature of mineralisation, combined with his talent for the integration of ore deposit data into local and regional geological frameworks, further strengthens SRK’s capability in structural geology and exploration targeting,”  said SRK Australia Managing Director Chris Woodfull. “Matthew will be an important asset to our geology team as we continue to focus on providing innovative geological solutions to our clients in the mining and mineral exploration industry.”

From 2007 to 2016, Matthew worked in Namibia as the Exploration Manager for Sabre Resources. Prior to that, he held positions at the Geological Survey of Western Australia, AngloGold Ashanti, RSG Global Consulting, and Coffey Mining.

Matthew has a BSc (Hons) degree from the University of Melbourne and was awarded a PhD in Economic Geology by the University of Queensland for his work on the Mount Isa deposit. He is a member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG) and the Society of Economic Geologists (SEG).

Matthew started working for SRK in early May and is based in Perth, Western Australia.
