David Pearce

David spent 11 years working on world-class coal and hard rock mining operations in various roles, including 4 years as manager of technical services for one of the largest trucks and shovel mines globally and one of Rio Tinto’s most efficient mines at the time. With SRK, David has led technical studies; due diligence reviews for acquisitions, stock exchange listings and project finance, including listing reports for ERG (ENRC) (Kazakhstan) and Vedanta (India); and project optimisation studies. His broad knowledge of a wide range of commodities and working environments enables him to identify key issues quickly and efficiently, and nominate experts from around the world with appropriate specialist skills to provide specific advice.

David’s current focus is on helping clients deal with key issues of today: improving efficiencies through better understanding of data and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.  For the former, David leads teams which look to identify opportunities at operations, understand the reasons why those opportunities exist and propose practical solutions given the specific constraints of that mine.  For the latter, David helps clients understand their greenhouse gas emission profile over the life of the mine and so that we can identify ways to reduce emissions through a combination of current and emerging technology, as well as relooking at the operation in a holistic way to help restructure activities to reduce overall emissions.  In each area, it is key to understand how the mining operation changes over the life of mine so that practical solutions can be proposed and adopted.
