John Willis

John's experience includes 12 years with the Hydrometallurgy Research Laboratories of MIM Holdings/Xstrata in Australia, where he was responsible for the development, implementation, and management of metallurgical testwork programs aimed at flowsheet development, and was a member of the team that developed the patented Albion Process, a hydrometallurgical process route for the extraction of base metals and refractory gold from their ores. Prior to undertaking a PhD in gold CIP modelling at the renowned Julius Krutschnitt Mineral Research Centre (JKMRC), he worked at the Comalco Research Centre in Melbourne on kaolin product development and alumina precipitation modelling. 
Before relocating to the UK in early 2006 he worked for JKTech, the technology transfer division of JKMRC, where he consulted in comminution using the mineral processing simulator JKSimMet. John joined SRK in early 2008 and has worked on numerous audit, due diligence, and feasibility/design projects, in commodity areas including gold, copper, molybdenum, iron ore, phosphate, and potash with a geographical spread ranging from the FSU to Western Africa to South America.
