Mauricio Herrera

Dr. Herrera is Civil engineer with over 20 years of experience in non-contact, surface water management projects, including design of diversion systems, sediment control ponds, and analysis and design of stormwater management infrastructure. Dr. Herrera specializes in integrated hydrotechnical system analysis tailored to the level of detail required for the project, whether it is a scopinig, pre-feasibility, or feasibility study; detailed engineering, implementation, or closure design. Additional expertise includes hydrological and hydraulic modeling for inundation studies, of dam safety reviews.

Dr. Herrera has been Project Manager and Technical Lead on several projects, including the hydrotechnical aspects of dam safety studies, detention pond designs, sediment and erosion control plans, mine water management, stream rehabilitation, water quality modeling, inundation mapping studies, hazard and risk assessments, dam-break studies, and design and construction management projects. Dr. Herrera is also QP on a number of 43-101 reports.

An industry recognized expert in PCSWMM modeling, Dr. Herrera did his PhD in the use of multi-objective optimization based on Genetic Algorithms for the automatic calibration of the Stormwater Management Model (SWMM) and for the automatic siting and design of detention basins at the watershed scale.
